It stinks when you can't take a great picture because you're afraid of damaging your camera. Whether it's under water or out on the trails, sometimes your favorite gadget just can't make the trip.

You can now take that risk with an adventure cam: a device durable enough to survive many of the elements. Whether you want to take stills or video, there's something that fits your needs. To help you out, we've put together a roundup on the best waterproof cameras of 2013 and we've found a bunch of good deals on cameras and accessories that you can use for your adventure, which you can check out below.

For a rundown of the best waterproof cameras you can watch our video.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS5

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS5 is one of the better waterproof offerings this year. It shoots smooth 1080p video and has a fast burst mode for action shots. It's also great for the roaming adventurer—it has a GPS that could be used as a compass, altimeter, and even a barometer. If this camera isn't for you, you can get select waterproof cameras up to 25 percent off through an Amazon promotion.

Panasonic HX-A100 HD Wearable Camcorder

We checked out the Panasonic HX-A100 wearable camcorder at this year's CES and found that the device had a few interesting features. It's easy to use, has WiFi connectivity so you can tether the camera to your smartphone, and has a detached camera mount. It doesn't have the best image quality, but that's not what it was made for. It's a good product to look into if you're looking for a small, wearable camcorder for the outdoors (although it has some practical uses indoors as well). The HX-A100 currently on sale through Adorama for $199 (down from $299) with free shipping.

Polaroid XS100HD Sports Video Camera Bundle

If you're looking for an inexpensive helmet cam, this bundle on sale at BuyDig is worth looking into. The XS100HD can shoot in 1080p, is waterproof up to 30 feet, and has three photo modes (single, burst, and time lapse). However, what's best about this deal is the accessories that you get—basically everything you'll need to go with your new camera. The bundle comes with a lens cleaning kit, a 16GB micro SD memory card, a USB high speed memory card reader, a floating wrist strap for aquatic activities, a mini tripod, and a gadget bag. You can get all of this for $174—25 percent off the list price.

Olympus Tough TG620

While we haven't reviewed this exact model, we've raved about Olympus tough cams. The brand has won our waterproof camera showdown two years in a row after all, so it's safe to say that the Olympus Tough TG620 is worth checking out, especially since the deal running through Groupon until July 25 cuts the price down to $129 with free shipping. It's waterproof down to 16 feet and shockproof from a five foot drop.

Pentax WG-3

It's definitely saying something when we say that out of all the uniquely-designed waterproof cameras on the market, the Pentax WG-3 is the most eye-catching. If you're seeking out an adventure cam based solely on design and durability, you'll definitely want to check out this one. It doesn't have the best image quality, but it's still a solid product with tons of features such as a "digital microscope" for bug hunting and a nice interval shooting mode for creating timelapses. This sale through B&H Photo discounts the camera to $296 until July 31.

CamRade TravelMate Outbag Hiker Backpack

Now that you have your camera, you're going to need a bag to carry it. You don't want to skimp on a good camera bag that's going to protect your gear, and it's even more important with the outdoors threatening to destroy your stuff. The CamRade hiker backpack now on sale at Adorama is huge—it fits up to three DSLR bodies or a DV or HDV camcorder. It also can hold up to a 17-inch laptop, meaning most of what you need can come with you on the go. This deal drops the price to $140 and includes free shipping.
